Health Baseline screening Stockholm — what’s actually inside the 12,000 SEK package

By Dr. Aydin Tajeri, Specialist in Internal Medicine. Last clinically reviewed: 27 April 2026.

A “health screening” is one of those phrases that means almost nothing without details. At one Stockholm clinic, 12,000 SEK gets you a single blood draw and a 10-minute consultation. At another, it gets you a half-day clinical workup with a physician. We’re firmly in the second category — and this article exists because we’d rather you know exactly what you’re paying for than be surprised later.

This is a deep look at our Health Baseline tier: 50+ biomarkers, physical examination, same-day consultation, written report. What’s inside, what’s not, and how it actually compares to the alternatives in Stockholm.

What Health Baseline is for

Health Baseline is our entry-tier preventive screening. It’s designed for someone who:

  • Hasn’t had a comprehensive health check in 1+ year
  • Wants a structured cardiovascular and metabolic baseline
  • Is starting a longevity / health optimisation programme and needs a reference point
  • Has a family history of cardiovascular, metabolic, or autoimmune disease
  • Is between 30 and 60 years old (younger gets less marginal value, older typically benefits from Health 360 or Health Optimize tiers)

It is not for:

  • Acute symptoms — see a GP or emergency for those
  • Cancer-specific screening (we have separate dedicated screenings for breast, colon, prostate, skin, and full-body MRI in Health 360 / Health Optimize)
  • Hormonal deep-dives (separate hormone panels via specialist consultation)
  • People who already do annual screenings elsewhere with no concerns

If any of these describe you, the right tier is probably Health 360 (12-month programme) or Health Optimize (executive tier with full body MRI).

The 50+ biomarkers we measure

Here’s the full panel for Health Baseline. These are the markers used by published cardiovascular and metabolic risk models — not arbitrary “let’s add another lab” volume:

Cardiovascular

  • Total cholesterol, HDL, LDL, non-HDL, triglycerides
  • ApoB (why it matters more than LDL)
  • Lp(a) — once in a lifetime test, inherited risk
  • hs-CRP (high-sensitivity inflammation marker)
  • NT-proBNP (heart resilience)
  • Troponin T (cardiac stress)
  • Homocysteine (methylation cycle)

Metabolic

  • Fasting glucose
  • HbA1c (3-month average glucose)
  • Fasting insulin → HOMA-IR (insulin resistance)
  • Uric acid

Kidney + liver

  • Creatinine, eGFR, urea
  • ALT, AST, GGT, ALP
  • Bilirubin (total + direct)
  • Albumin, total protein

Thyroid

  • TSH, free T4, free T3
  • Anti-TPO antibodies (Hashimoto screen)

Inflammation + iron

  • Ferritin, transferrin saturation
  • Full ferritin panel
  • ESR

Vitamins

  • 25(OH) vitamin D
  • Vitamin B12 (active form, holotranscobalamin)
  • Folate

Hormones (basic)

  • Testosterone (men)
  • Estradiol + DHEA-S (women)
  • Cortisol (morning)

Full blood count

  • Hemoglobin, hematocrit
  • WBC + 5-part differential
  • Platelets

Urine

  • Standard urinalysis (glucose, protein, ketones, blood)

That’s 50+ analytes. Each one earned its place — we don’t add panels just to inflate the test list.

Physical examination — what the physician checks

After your blood draw, the physician sees you for a full structured exam:

  • Vitals — blood pressure (manual + automatic), pulse (rate + rhythm), oxygen saturation, respiratory rate
  • BMI, waist circumference, body composition (InBody segmental analysis)
  • Cardiovascular — auscultation, peripheral pulses, JVP
  • Respiratory — auscultation, percussion if indicated
  • Abdominal — palpation, percussion
  • Lymph nodes — neck, axilla, groin
  • Skin — full screening for suspicious lesions
  • Neurological — basic motor / sensory / reflexes if indicated by history
  • MSK — focused on areas of concern from history

This is a 30-minute physical, not a 5-minute walkthrough.

How long the appointment takes

Health Baseline is a 2-hour appointment:

PhaseDuration
Reception, intake form review, undress to gown15 min
Blood draw + urine collection15 min
Physical examination30 min
Results discussion (initial labs run on-site)30 min
Plan and follow-up scheduling15 min
Buffer15 min

Most patients block 9:00–11:00 in their morning. Plan to fast for 10–12 hours beforehand (water and black coffee are fine) for accurate metabolic markers.

Same-day results vs. specialist follow-up

Most lab markers are run on-site or at our partner lab Karolinska University Lab and return same-day or next-day. The physician reviews them with you in the consultation — you leave understanding your numbers.

Some markers require longer:

  • Lp(a) — ships to specialised lab, results in 5–7 days (this is normal for any clinic)
  • ApoB — usually same-day, sometimes next-day
  • Hormone panels — same-day for basic, longer for full female hormone profiles

If anything in your panel triggers further investigation, your physician schedules the relevant specialist consultation before you leave. Most follow-ups happen within the same week.

How it compares to Health 360 and Health Optimize

Three tiers, three different jobs:

Health Baseline (12,000 SEK) — Annual checkpoint

  • 50+ biomarkers
  • Physical exam, same-day consultation
  • 1 follow-up call within 30 days
  • Best for: yearly check-ins, baseline establishment

Health 360 (34,900 SEK) — 12-month programme

  • All Baseline panels +
  • 87+ biomarkers (hormones, advanced cardiovascular, full lipid panel)
  • Echocardiogram + carotid ultrasound
  • Specialist panel review (multiple physicians)
  • Quarterly check-ins for 12 months
  • Best for: people who want continuous health management, not just a snapshot

Health Optimize (52,000 SEK) — Executive / longevity tier

  • All 360 panels +
  • Full body MRI
  • VO₂ max testing (CPET)
  • DEXA body composition
  • Genetic risk panel option
  • 100+ biomarkers
  • Cardiology + nutrition consultations
  • Best for: leaders, people with strong family history, anyone optimising for healthspan

How it compares to Werlabs / Neko / Elfcare

Werlabs — 1,800–3,400 SEK. You walk in, blood is drawn, results in 2–4 days via app. No physical exam, no in-person physician consultation. Excellent for tracking specific markers if you already know what you want. Inferior for someone who wants clinical context.

Neko Health — 2,750 SEK. Body scan + brief blood draw + brief physician consult. Strength: scan technology and consumer experience. Weakness: limited clinical depth — no specialist follow-up, narrow biomarker panel, no continuity.

Elfcare — ~35,000 SEK. Full body MRI + 80 biomarkers + consultation. Closer to our Health 360 tier, not Baseline. If you want imaging-led screening at that price point, comparable.

Sturebadet Läkarmottagning — subscription-based. Closer to our Memberships, not single-tier screening.

If price is the only factor, Werlabs wins. If clinical depth matters, Health Baseline at our price point is what you’re looking at.

Who Health Baseline is NOT for

Be honest about whether this fits:

  • You want only a few specific tests. Use Werlabs for individual markers or Synlab — cheaper, no waste.
  • You want imaging. Health Baseline doesn’t include MRI. Use Health 360 or Optimize, or comparison-shop with Elfcare.
  • You want a one-day “everything” approach. Health Baseline is the entry tier. Health Optimize fits this brief better.
  • You’re under 30 and have no family history concerns. A standard vårdcentral annual check is genuinely fine for most healthy young adults.

FAQ

Do I need to fast? Yes — please fast for 10–12 hours before your appointment. Water and black coffee (no sugar) are fine. Take any morning medications as usual unless your physician has told you otherwise.

What if my work won’t let me block 2 hours mid-week? We have early-morning (7:30) slots specifically for this. Some patients book the screening on a Saturday morning.

Can I do Health Baseline if I’m pregnant? Some markers (X-rays if added, certain medications) are contraindicated during pregnancy. Tell us at booking and we’ll adjust the panel — usually we recommend deferring to Health Baseline during pregnancy isn’t worth the panel changes; book post-partum or use prenatal care pathways instead.

Will my GP see the results? We send a structured report directly to you. If you’d like us to forward it to your vårdcentral GP for continuity, just say so and we’ll handle it (with your written consent).

How often should I do Health Baseline? Annually for ages 35+, or every 2 years if your prior baseline was clean and family history is unremarkable. If you’re enrolled in Health 360 or Optimize, the equivalent baseline screening is built into those programmes.

Is the same physician available next year if I want consistency? Yes — Members get the same dedicated physician across visits. For one-off Health Baseline patients, we match you to the same physician on follow-up where possible.

Do you offer this in Swedish only, or English too? Both. Every physician at our clinic consults in English by default, and the written report is available in either language.

Can my health insurance reimburse 12,000 SEK? Often, yes — if you have private Swedish health insurance with a “preventive screening” benefit, or international insurance like Cigna with wellness coverage. We’ll issue an itemised receipt formatted for reimbursement.
